Today P4-7 set their first targets in the First Minister’s Reading Challenge. The pupils each have their own reading passport where they can reflect on their progress and rate the books that they have read. Several pupils have challenged themselves to read one book per week, others have decided to try new genres or authors and some have challenged themselves to read a newspaper or magazine article every day. We’d love to hear what YOU would challenge yourself to do!

My challenge is to read a different genre every time I start a new book! I’ve been looking through “100 places to start your reading journey” and it has organised the list into ten different genres. I’m going to attempt to read one book from each section before the Easter holidays. What will Mr Brown and Miss MacDonald challenge themselves to read?

Let us know how you get on! I have obtained my first ever graphic novel to have a go at. I’ve left a copy of the list of recommendations with Helen at the Craigmonie Library too.
