P6/7 have had a very busy week!

On Monday the P7s spent the afternoon in the English department at GUHS.  They enjoyed meeting the English teachers and returned to school having written a Cinquain (poem.)  Whilst P7 were busy at the High School, P6 had their first Gigajam drumming lesson from Mr Simpson.  P6s worked in pairs and enjoyed using the equipment.  Our next drumming lesson will be on Monday 3rd April.

This morning, Calum and Beth returned for our Lego Mindstorms Advanced session.  P6/7 were presented with a problem.  A rover has been lost on Mars.  Mission Control have sent a robot out to locate it.  This session demanded more sophisticated coding, and the use of the light/dark sensor.  Beth and Calum were very impressed by the perseverance and attention to detail of P6/7. The workshop ended with a robot disco – the robots dance moves were pretty amazing!

A huge thank you to Calum and Beth.  The pupils learned so much from these workshops, and not just about technology.  Programming demands clear communication, problem solving and real perseverance – all essential life skills.
